📋 Requirements
- ✓Shopify must support Customer Accounts & Order Status Extensions.
- ✓The WeUpsell – AI Upsell & Cross Sell app must be installed.
- ✓Your store must be using Shopify's extensible Thank You and Order Status pages.
1Step 1: Open the Template Library
Start by choosing the Order Status template inside WeUpsell:
- Open AI Upsell by weupsell from your Shopify Admin.
- Go to Templates to open the Template Library.
- Find Order Status Product Offer in the template grid.
- Hover the card and click Use this.
This opens the editor so you can customize how product recommendations appear on your Shopify Order Status page.
2Step 2: Customize the Offer in the Editor
In the Editor, open the Settings tab to configure how the recommendation widget looks and behaves. You can adjust:
- Offer title — the heading shoppers see (for example, "You may also like")
- Offer layout — choose List or Slider, and set how many items appear per row (up to 8)
- CTA button text — customize the Buy Now label
- Description — show or hide the product description and choose which content to display
Use the desktop and mobile preview toggles to check how the widget looks before publishing. You can also explore the Offer, Design, and Placement tabs for additional customization.
Note: The preview uses sample product cards for layout. On your live store, WeUpsell automatically shows personalized, related, or complementary products based on the customer's order.
3Step 3: Publish the Template
When your settings look right, click Save & Publish. A setup dialog titled Add WeUpsell to your Order status page appears with publishing instructions.
- Review the steps shown in the dialog.
- Click Publish at the bottom of the dialog first — this saves the offer in WeUpsell.
- Shopify's Order Status Editor then opens so you can add the app block.
Publishing activates the offer in WeUpsell. Shoppers will only see it after you add the app block in the Shopify editor and save.
4Step 4: Open the Shopify Order Status Editor
After publishing, Shopify opens the Order Status Editor for your store configuration. In the left sidebar, open the Apps panel. Under AI Upsell by weupsell, you will see available blocks such as:
- Order Status Product Offer
- Order Status Product Offer 2
The preview shows how the "You may also like" widget appears on the Order Status page, with product cards, variants, and Buy Now buttons.
5Step 5: Add the WeUpsell App Block
There are two ways to add the recommendation block to the Order Status page.
Option 1 (Recommended)
- Open the Apps panel in the left sidebar.
- Under AI Upsell by weupsell, locate Order Status Product Offer or Order Status Product Offer 2.
- Click the + icon next to the block.
- Select Order status from the Add to menu.
The app block is added to the Order Status page automatically.
Option 2
If you prefer adding from the page structure:
- Click Add block in the section where you want the offer to appear.
- In the Search blocks menu, find AI Upsell by weupsell.
- Select Order Status Product Offer or Order Status Product Offer 2.
6Step 6: Position the Widget and Save
After adding the app block, place it where shoppers will notice it without interrupting important order details. Good positions include:
- Below the purchased products
- Before the Order Summary
- Near the Order Details section
Then finish setup:
- Click Save in the top-right corner of the Shopify Editor.
- Wait for Shopify to finish saving your changes.
Your AI product recommendations are now live on the Order Status page.
✓ Verify Your Setup
To make sure everything is working correctly:
- ✓Place a test order.
- ✓Open the Order Status page.
- ✓Confirm the "You may also like" recommendation widget appears.
- ✓Check that products, variants, prices, and the Buy Now button work as expected.
🛠️ Troubleshooting
I can't see the Order Status Product Offer block.
Make sure the template was published from WeUpsell, you're editing the correct Order Status profile, the WeUpsell app is installed and enabled, and Customer Accounts & Order Status Extensions are available for your store.
The block is available but doesn't appear on the Order Status page.
Click Save after adding the block in the Shopify Editor. Refresh the page, or open a real Order Status page from a recent test order instead of relying only on the editor preview.
The preview shows placeholder products.
This is expected in the WeUpsell editor. Sample cards are used for layout. On your live store, WeUpsell shows relevant or complementary products based on the customer's completed order.
